The principal Hindu Gurus of India, whom millions of people follow with devotion, have taken the commitment to join their strengths in the struggle against AIDS, by including in their sermons the preventive information and message that can help to break the stigma which surrounds it.
This has been the commitment taken this week by 70 important religious leaders who assembled in the seminar “Faith in Action” organized by the Art of Living Foundation with the support of one of the UN’s programmes against AIDS (UNAIDS).
“The stigma which surrounds this disease can only be overcome if the religious leaders speak about it openly. This is a task which cannot be taken only by the Government and the NGOs,” said the founder of the Art of Living, the great saint Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. The masters committed to integrate information about the virus into their discourses, rituals, festivals and in classes of religion.
