Peace angels from the Mid-east
For the first time ever, 156 people from Mid-east countries Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Israel, Afghanistan, Bahrain, Lebanon and Muscat underwent a month long intensive training at The Art of Living International Centre in Bangalore.
«Iraqis are in a Catch 22 situation. In any long-drawn conflict, the victim tends to turn an oppressor and the oppressor becomes a victim. A broader vision and spiritual understanding alone can break this vicious cycle,» says Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, explaining the importance of the training program.
It was very impressing to see people from cultures, that from a distance seem so different to get to know each other so well and learn to understand each other on the basis of their common human values. The atmosphere was filled with joy and peace and made them forget, at least for a few days, the conflicts of their home countries.
All participants were determined to bring those values home to their own countries.
Some of them were trained as course instructors to start programs in their countries and teach techniques to improve the physical, mental, emotional and social well-being in those war-torn regions.
«It feels like breathing out all the stress of war and breathing in a new life.» This was how 32-year-old Iraqi, Ahmed Hinoon described his experience of the training program.
«We will go back and spread the knowledge of Art of Living in Iraq. The people of Iraq badly need this. They are undergoing a lot of mental and emotional tensions. Everybody is harbouring revenge in his or her mind. Only Art of Living can help change people’s mind, » said Ali Abdulhur Humady.
